Ironwood Structural Design was established in 2010 by Jeremy Collins, a degree qualified Structural Engineer, to provide structural design services for local Architects, Contractors, developers and private individuals. This was all carried out to a high quality and in a friendly manner. We have built very good relationships with local builders, specialist suppliers (including those for timber framed buildings), Architects / designers and Building Control organisations and helped our clients to assemble the right team to carry out their work to the required standard.
We helped with the design of a single beam to enable the removal of a wall, for example, the structural design associated with small or large extensions, and entire new buildings. We designed in steel, concrete and masonry structures due to an in-depth knowledge of timber frame construction, whether ‘stick built’ on site or designed by a specialist timber frame supplier and built in a factory. Our local knowledge of expected ground conditions enabled the most suitable and economic foundation solution to be specified. For tricky sites we worked closely with several site investigation companies, who provided more detailed analysis of ground conditions when required.
